Parfum absolute or eau de parfum?
Parfum Absolute (30ml roll-on). Pure perfume oil with no added alcohol. It sits close to the skin, lasts longest and suits pulse points, layering and anyone who prefers an intimate trail.
Eau de Parfum (50ml and 100ml spray). An alcohol-based spray with a high concentration of fragrance oils. It projects more and leaves a fuller trail in the air.
Making perfume last in tropical weather
- Apply to moisturised skin: our matching body emulsions help fragrance last in humid weather.
- Spray pulse points and clothing rather than rubbing wrists together.
- In heat, choose fresher scents for daytime and keep richer ones for air-conditioned evenings.

Fragrance glossary
- Top notes
- The first impression, usually citrus, spices and light fruits. They are the most volatile and fade within the first 15 to 30 minutes.
- Heart notes
- The character of the fragrance, often florals, teas and herbs. They emerge as the top notes fade and last several hours.
- Base notes
- Woods, resins, musks and ambers. They appear last, last longest and leave the trail on skin and fabric.
- Drydown
- How a fragrance smells hours after application, once the base notes dominate.
- Accord
- A blend of materials that creates a single new impression, such as an amber, cognac or ocean accord.
- Olfactive family
- The broad style of a fragrance, for example woody, floral, citrus, amber or chypre.
- Longevity
- How long a fragrance stays perceptible on skin. Heat, humidity and skin type all affect it.
- Projection
- How far a fragrance radiates from the skin in the first hours.
- Sillage
- The trail a fragrance leaves in the air as you move.
- Layering
- Wearing matching body care, such as a perfumed body cleanser and body emulsion, under the perfume so the scent lasts longer.
